What's been happening in this Devlog?

Happy New Year!

There has been a lot of things added into the game and I'll list them below;

  • Added a trapdoor that protects passengers until the enemies break it
  • 'Sculptor' enemy AI set to target the trapdoor first in order to get to the passengers (nasty bloke!)
  • Added the swivel gun (Good Ol' Gun) that auto aims at the nearest enemy
  • Added a split shot upgrade to the cannons. This means that the cannon can shoot 2 angled cannonballs but the player cannot rotate it so must be used wisely!
  • New weapon and body sprites to all enemies
  • Wave based enemy spawns
  • Added a wheel that moves the boat up and down and then re-centers. This is for moving the ship out of the way of obstacles etc 


The biggest, most time consuming elements here have been the Good Ol' Gun and the wheel! 

The Good Ol' Gun proved to be very tricky and time consuming to program and often misbehaved which in turn lead to many hours debugging and only a few headaches!

The wheel was less tricky to program but was still a challenge. I felt like my coding skills were properly put to the test and I think that I have improved in my time doing this project.
