STYX Devlog 12


*Deadline Day!*

This will be the final Devlog for the project so far as today is the submission date for our project. 

It has been an exciting build up but all good things must come to an end! Or so they say, myself and the team will continue to work on STYX after our submission so that we can finish what we started without the added pressure of deadlines and other looming events (I'm looking at you Dissertation).

So what have we been doing?

For this Devlog I have been working on more bug fixes but also an exciting new element of gameplay, which is a 'jumping' enemy. 

What do I meant when I say jumping enemy? This is the term the team is using to describe a new enemy type we are introducing to STYX. 

The enemy in question spawns in at the river's shore, waits for a few seconds and then jumps to a location on the boat, marked by a glowing mark on the ground so that the player can see where it will land and thus plan accordingly.  This particular enemy is a special type and we are classing it as a 'miniboss' of sorts for the time being and the name that we have settled on is 'Soldier'.

Other bug fixes/jobs include;

  • Being able to leave the level before the intended time
  • Yet more swivel gun tweaks, including a dodgy rotation
  • Level select set ups
